Gurudwara Suhela Ghora

Roopnagar

One of Guru Hargobind's favourite stallions, Jan Bhai, wounded in the Battle of Kartarpur, finally collapsed and passed away. The Gurdwara established during the 20th century is wrongly named Gurdwara Sri Suhela Ghora Sahib.

According to Gurbilas Chevi Patshahi and Sri Gur Pratap Suraj Granth, Guru Hargobind's horse named Suhela Ghora was killed in an earlier Battle at Gurusar/ Mehraj. The two horses, Jan Bhai and Suhela (originally named Dilbagh and Gulbagh, respectively), were being brought by a Sikh from Afghanistan for Guru Hargobind, when they were snatched on the way by the Governor of Lahore. Bhai Bidhi Chand, a Gursikh, recovered them one by one through strategem and brought them to Guru Hargobind.
